Police: St. Cloud Man Intentionally Set Sock on Fire after Argument

A St. Cloud man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after police say he intentionally lit his sock on fire after an argument with a neighbor over the use of a communal dryer.

The St. Cloud Fire Department was called to the 1200 block of 15th Street North around 8:47 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a fire at the apartment complex.

A Cold Spring man was arrested after hitting a gas line in a ditch and leaving the scene, Stearns County Sheriff's Office said.

Olmsted Co. Sheriff Warns of Online Scam

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office has put out a warning about an increase in online scams in the area.

Hackers are reportedly sending emails posing as businesses and asking users to click on a link to confirm an order or restore access to their account. Clicking the link can infect a computer with malware, which will collect data from a computer and send it to hackers.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office has a warning for Minnesotans about a scam involving fake IRS workers.

The sheriff’s office says people posing as IRS employees have been targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, and have swindled at least one person out of $2,000.

Grand Rapids Man Pleads Guilty in St. Cloud Break-in, Assault

A Grand Rapids man has pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder after breaking into a stranger's house in St. Cloud and beating and choking him.
    
Corey Becker also pleaded guilty Monday to one count of kidnapping in Stearns County. The 21-year-old says he doesn't remember anything about the June incident because he was drunk.

Deer River Woman Gets 5 Years for Grand Rapids Robbery

A Deer River woman has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison for robbing a Grand Rapids business of about $350.
    
Twenty-five-year-old Diana Jones pleaded guilty Monday in Istasca County court to one felony count of first degree aggravated robbery. She was charged in the Oct. 10 robbery of Stokes Printing.
