Where You Live: Weekend Event Cancellations

The winter storm is causing many cancellations of activities and events throughout Minnesota. We've compiled a list of the latest announcements in your community.



  • Flight delays and cancellations continued through the day Saturday at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. At 2 p.m., Delta cancelled all flights for the rest  of the day. Delta has issued travel waivers for flights in and out of Minnesota, which means travelers can change their flights without penalty. Click here to learn more about travel waivers from Delta.

  • Saturday's Target Holidazzle Parade has been cancelled. Click here to learn more.


  • Memorial Lutheran Church: 8:30 a.m. service cancelled. The 10:30 a.m. service will go on as scheduled.


  • Albertville Premium Outlets closed Saturday at 3 p.m.


  • Lake Wapogasset Bible Camp has cancelled the Saturday Dinner Theater performance.


  • Andover High School: The "Christmastime" concert has been rescheduled to Monday at 7 p.m. Click here for more information.


  • The "Civil War Christmas" program at Rum River Library on Saturday, Dec. 11 has been cancelled.


  • Trinity Lutheran Church of Lake Johanna is canceling Sunday worship and education hour.


  • Peace Lutheran Church of Baldwin, Wisconsin is canceling Sunday school and all Christmas practices for December 12th.


  • Riverside Church's 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. performances of "The Christmas Shoes" were postponed until Sunday at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Ticket holders can find more information by clicking here.


  • Saturday evening worship services for Bloomington Living Hope Lutheran Church are cancelled at both the Bloomington and Shakopee locations.
  • Mall of America announced it is allowing its tenants to close at 6 p.m. Officials say some stores have already closed. The mall won't close until shoppers and employees are able to leave safely.
  • The Gar Lockrem Community Choir concert scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church was cancelled.


  • Brookdale Covenant Church; No Sunday School or Worship Sunday Morning


  •  The Motor Vehicle Licensing Center will be closed due to the weather.  Hours will resume as normal on Monday.


  • First Baptist Church: The 8:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. services are cancelled. The 11:10 a.m. service will go on as planned.


  • Full Gospel Assembly: All Sunday services cancelled.


  • Chisago Lake Lutheran Church:  The Dec. 12 8 a.m. service is cancelled.


  • The Centennial High School Ski Club was cancelled.


  • VFW Post 9625 Men's Auxiliary Steak and Shrimp Dinner scheduled for Saturday evening has been cancelled.


  • The Cottage Grove, St. Paul Park, Newport Holiday Train Committee has announced that the Holiday Train event has been cancelled. Click here for more information.


  • The Well Covenant Church: Sunday service cancelled.


  • Christ Presbyterian Church: Saturday 5:15 p.m. worship service cancelled.


  • Faith United Methodist Church: The Sunday, Dec 12 9:30 a.m. worship service was cancelled. The Children's Christmas program will be postponed until Sunday, Dec. 19.


  • St. Philips Lutheran Church: All Saturday events cancelled.
  • Emanuel Christian Center: All Saturday events cancelled.


  • St. Paul's UCC: Sunday school, worship and congregational meeting all cancelled.


  • Stages Theatre Company cancelled the Saturday 7 p.m. performance of Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells. Click here for more information.


  • St. Peter Lutheran Church: Church services, Sunday school and Bible studies for Dec. 12 were cancelled.


  • Chain of Lakes YMCA: All youth and swim academy classes will be canceled for Saturday, Dec. 11.


  • Maple Grove Evangelical Free Church has cancelled all Sunday morning activities


  • Maplewood Mall: Closing at 3 p.m Saturday.


  • St. John Neumann Catholic Church: Sunday school classes are cancelled for Dec. 12.


  • All Minneapolis Public Schools activities scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11 have been cancelled. The cancellation includes Community Education classes, Early Childhood Family classes and all other activities and events.
  • The Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota will close at 1 p.m. Saturday. All events and activities at or after that time are cancelled or postponed. As of mid-day Saturday, Sunday events were on as planned.
  • Augsburg College: Saturday classes cancelled.
  • The dedication ceremony for the new 46th Street Metro Transit Station scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11 has been cancelled.
  • American Girl Book Club at Mpls East Lake Street Library from 11 a.m. to noon
  • The Walker Art Center is closed Saturday. The center is planning to make exchanges for tonight's sold out events. It is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. Sunday, though visitors should call 612-375-7600 before coming to confirm.
  • St. John's Lutheran Church of Minneapolis cancelled its Saturday's performance of Handel's Messiah.
  • The University of Minnesota postponed the men's hockey and women's hockey games for Saturday, Dec. 11. The men's game will be played at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12.  The women's game will also be played Sunday, Dec. 12. A time has not yet been set.  For updates, click here.
  • All Saturday activities at Mt. Olivet Church, which has campuses in Minneapolis and Victoria, were cancelled.
  • Minnesota Orchestra: The 8 p.m. Messiah performance was cancelled. Ticket holders can click here for more information. 
  • Holidazzle: Saturday's parade cancelled. Click here for more information.
  • Seward Concert Band performance to be held at Roosevelt High School was cancelled.
  • Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church: The 7:45 a.m. service and Sunday school for Dec. 12 were cancelled. The 11 a.m. service is scheduled to take place as normal.
  • Hope Community Church in downtown Minneapolis has cancelled their 9am and 11am. However, the 9am service will still take place.


  • The 7th Annual Breakdown Sports Boys' Tip Off Classic is cancelled at Minnetonka High School. Organizers say they will reschedule the event for a future date. Keep an eye on the Breakdown Sports USA website, for a new schedule.


  • New Brighton United Church of Christ: Sunday service cancelled.


  • First Lutheran Church cancelled its Saturday 5 p.m. worship service.


  • Associated Church: Sunday's worship service and all other activities are cancelled. The youth Work Week meeting will be rescheduled.


  • Plymouth Christian Youth Center and the Capri Theater postponed the Children's Gift Sale until Wednesday, Dec. 15 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. It also postponed the Capri Big Band Holiday Concert. A new date has not yet been announced.


  • The Church of St. Joseph cancelled its 3:30 p.m. Penance Service and its 5 p.m. Mass.
  • The Red Wing First Covenant Church cancelled the Saturday performance of Uncle Phil's Diner. Tickets will be honored at Sunday's 1:30 p.m. performance.


  • Emerson Congregational UCC: All Sunday activities and services cancelled.
  • House of Prayer Lutheran Church: The Worship Service, Sunday School, and Christmas Program Practice scheduled for Dec. 12 are cancelled. The Festival of Carols will be postponed.


  • River Falls Community Theatre: Saturday's performance of Nuncrackers: The Nunsense Musical was cancelled.


  • Elim Lutheran Church has cancelled 8:45am Sunday service.


  • All Saturday basketball games through the St. Croix Valley Athletic Association have been cancelled.


  • St. James United Methodist Church cancelled Sunday School and Sunday church services. 


  • The Grand Opening of the Saint Michael Community Center was cancelled.


  • All St. Paul Public Schools activities for Saturday, Dec. 11 and Sunday, Dec. 12 are cancelled. Activities include the Saturday Extended Learning Program, ACT testing at all sites, all athletic and extracurricular events, all community education classes and the Lego League competition at Benjamin E. Mays Elementary. School activities are expected to resume as scheduled on Monday, Dec. 13.
  • The Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota will close at 1 p.m. Saturday. All events and activities at or after that time are cancelled or postponed. As of mid-day Saturday, Sunday events were on as planned.
  • The Science Museum of Minnesota has closed for the remainder of the day Saturday. It is scheduled to open at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
  • Saturday Live! at the Central Library has been cancelled.  Call the Youth Services Department at (651) 266-7034 on Saturday morning for more information.
  • The City of St. Paul Parks & Recreation Department has cancelled all Municipal Athletics Basketball Games today.
  • Hamline University: Saturday classes and events cancelled.
  • Macalester College: All Saturday afternoon and evening events cancelled.
  • The Church of St Bernard cancelled the Saturday evening mass and the Master Singers Saturday night concert.
  • Xcel Energy Center officials announced Saturday's 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. performances of Disney On Ice presents Mickey & Minnie's Magical Journey would go on as planned. However, ticket holders who cannot attend may exchange unused tickets for either the 1 p.m. or the 5 p.m. show on Sunday, Dec. 12. Click here for more information.
  • The Minnesota RollerGirls bout was rescheduled for Sunday, Dec. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at The Legendary Roy Wilkins Auditorium.
  • Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Ordway: Saturday's 7:30 p.m. Performance is cancelled. Ticket holders can exchange tickets for another performance. To do so, email the Ordway at weborders@ordway.org or call the box office at 651.224.4222 on Monday. Theater officials expect the Sunday performances to go on as scheduled. Click here for updates.


  • The Scott County Historical Society has cancelled the "Old Fashioned Christmas" event scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11. Instead of the "Old Fashioned Christmas", there will be a New Year's Open House at the Stans House on Wednesday, Dec. 29 from 2-5 p.m.


  • St. Felix CCW Breakfast on Sunday, Dec. 12. has been cancelled.


  • The Snowmobile Safety Training Class for Dec. 11 has been cancelled. A make-up session will be determined as soon as possible.


  • Winter Fest in White Bear Lake was cancelled.


  • Crossroads Church cancelled the Saturday 5 p.m. service.


  • Zion Lutheran Church canceled Sunday services and Sunday school.


  • Metro Transit buses will not run for the rest of the day Saturday. Officials will assess road conditions and make an announcement on bus service Sunday. Hiawatha light-rail trains are operating. Officials expect the Northstar commuter rail to operate Sunday as normal.
  • The Salvation Army has cancelled all volunteer bell-ringing shifts for Saturday.
  • Park Nicollet: All Urgent Care locations are closed. They will reopen at 8 a.m. Sunday. The emergency center at Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital is open.
  • All YMCAs are closing at 4 p.m. Saturday. They will open Sunday for regular business hours.
  • At 3 p.m., all Three Rivers Park facilities closed, except for the Hyland Ski Area in Bloomington and the snowboarding area at Elm Creek Park in Maple Grove.
  • Metro Mobility transit service suspended rides. However it will work to provide return rides so customers won't be stranded. Anyone with questions should call the reservationist at their Metro Mobility provider.
